Using Facebook Groups: Are They Worth It?

Using Facebook Groups: Are They Worth It?

using facebook groups

Facebook, *sigh*. What a giant.

It has grown so large over the last few years. Facebook has helped brands and bloggers build businesses of their dreams. All have leveraged the power of social media to their advantage. So should you. Take advantage of that by establishing your presence among the friends who, need your help and those who are building the same thing as you.

I could go on and on about Facebook, but let’s clamp down and corner one of the aspects of it in this article. Groups.

Groups in Facebook that are millions in number.

Mostly spam and some that are original. I have come to a conclusion to write about these groups that dwell in the Facebook world. Simple question, Are they worth it? Are they worth my time?

I will tell you things in this article that I have learned and acquired info about. There is a lot of more studying about this aspect, but who wants to wait so long to talk about it! I will talk about Facebook groups in this article, and will probably come out with a second study down the road, that has more in-depth knowledge. Let’s start with the first question.

Are they worth my time?

Sure. Some of them should merit some of your time. Anything that can get your name across, is worth every second you can spare. Getting your name across the social world, and especially Facebook, is time not wasted.

But that depends on what you are looking at on Facebook. Looking at all your friends posts and funny pictures on your wall. Then sorry to say, you’re wasting some time brother. How about use some of that time to get into groups that are engaging with what you are sharing? Sure!

But they are many spammers in these groups!

facebook group spam

Yes and no. If you look carefully at some of those people doing the posting, like I did, some don’t seem like spammers. It’s because some, out of all the bunch, are people like you, trying to get the word out about what they do. That image above did produce some comments! :)

Don’t join groups that only sell you junk, and those groups you are right about. Don’t worry about the spammers, they will always be everywhere, even on your blog. Just got to know how to outsmart them. :)

No one will see my posts!

Bullshit! They are plenty of people looking and posting their content ova there. One thing to do is, not to only post in one type of groups. Spread yourself out there. If you do blogging, then post some of that into some SEO groups too. Those in the group will benefit just as you would. Same vice versa.

Here are some examples of posts I added. Proof!

Another one:

How do I use them effectively?

Great question. I will explain you the best process of getting your post in there, and getting out as quick as possible, without wasting too much time. Some groups will not be so important, but who knows what we can grab from there. With an excellent image and a catchy headline, no matter where you are, can get traffic to come through that and convert something. Anyhow we are working with groups! :)

This is the process:
  1. Join groups that you could help with and seem legit.
  2. Write down every group on a piece of paper.
  3. Then share through your sharing system on you posts (A way to look better in your social sharing!)

You said that it shouldn’t take too much of your time to do the group sharing, and all you do here is make a process so long!

Wait a second! It may seem like a long time, but trust me, it isn’t. It doesn’t wastes my time. Plus, why would I lie. It might take some time at the beginning to set everything up, but after that, you’re free!

Join groups that seem legit and close to what you talk about.

You can inter cross certain niches over here, but only if something can benefit them as well. Don’t join groups in one sitting. You will get a headache and mentally thing that doing this is a waste of time. Pick a time of the day and join 5 or 10 groups, and that’s it!

Write down every group on a piece of paper.

This step is important, since you don’t want to act like the spammers and accidentally post in the same group there, four times. After posting in a group, put a check next to the name, and get going on to the next one.

My example:

list of facebook groups

Share through your sharing portal on your post.

This a dirty-little trick to look better! ;) Shhh.. Just submit it through there, and insert them into the group on your list. You don’t even have to go to your profile to submit. Submit your article through you sharing system, and done! That was easy!

Tha Conclusion

Everybody has their ways of sharing. Many ways. And this is just a tiny way to share your light with the world. It all depends if you want to do it and go above the crowd. If still want to believe that the groups are only for spammers, fine.

But they are some who are having a little success with this, since they don’t want to believe the obvious and find a way to stick out even in these Facebook groups.

Your choice! But your choice now is to share this article with your friends! :)

 Peace and Succeed!

Thanks for your insight, brother! ;)

  2. Bishwajeet @Comptalks

I don’t think groups will work for sharing links. Groups can used to discuss some important problems and niche related questions and all

    • Samuel Pustea

I see where you are coming from with that, but the groups on Facebook are different.

That is why a group is formed, to answer and solve questions anyone has. Absolutely true! You would even sometime link to your article if you talked about a solution for a problem that one may have. So you are still linking in a way.

      Thanks for your comment! :)

  3. Saif Murtaza

  4. Lenia

    Hi Samuel,

  5. Lenia

    Oups that was by mistake…
So, I just read this post and i have some answers. Do you believe that participating in Facebook groups can help a blogger to build and develop a web audience?
I haven’t done it by myself and if I understand well you have a deeper experience on that topic…
And a second one: what do you mean by sharing system?
I would be grateful if you can help me out :)
    Thank you for this post!

    • Samuel Pustea

      Haha, no problem Lenia :)

Participation in the facebook groups that helps you build a bigger audience depends. Not all groups are the same. Many groups are full of spammers while others are smaller and can get you some in there.

The sharing at the bottom of each post. Share through there. So if you have a tweet or facebook sharing button, use that to share in that area. It leaves a number or mark on the button and looks as if someone already shared your content. Just a little neat trick ;)

  6. Michael Belk

Facebook is probably the most social atmosphere, but twitter is a better trending website for getting the word out.

  7. Pavan Somu
